why are they expensive in Russia?
If a typical russian worker makes less money than many westen industrial workers,,Why is the Russian made auto more expensive? My guess is the materials are less expensive also that are used in makeing the auto..is it the exchange rate? or taxes? I just can not guess why Russians can not compete. They build rifles and tanks ,,that my guess cost less than the US counterpart..I just dont understand this..(but it is interesting)

Hi guys!
I can't believe I skipped over this one. Dima and I were just discussing what kind of an off road vehicle to buy (I like real offroad driving) and without spending too much money on some giant gas guzzler. We acutally thought at one point about buying a Niva... Vaz...don't they make the Volgas? I LOVE those Volgas! Anyways, I don't know much about mechanics really, but we talked to one guy down in the US regarding the Ural motorcycles, and apparently the parts come easily and they're simple to fix. I was told by one man in Russia, that the cars are built the same way, as they like to make it easy for Russians to do their own home repairs (because I know what the cost of the mechanics are like there). What's the real story on that? Amy
