Russia to Launch Earthquake Forecasting Satellite by End of 2001

Itar-Tass - In November-December this year Russia is planning to launch the first domestically produced satellite for forecasting earthquakes. If the launch is successful, a whole series of satellites will be launched to monitor all of the Earth’s seismic activity. The new satellite was unveiled at the Moscow international Air Show this week. The satellite raised the interest of both Russian and foreign specialists, in particular, representatives from Iran who could be engaged in cooperation in the project.
