Deputy PM Klebanov Says Private Space Station Technically Feasible

Interfax - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov considers as technically feasible a project to develop a private orbital space station which is being proposed by Mir Corporation.

In the meantime, the deputy prime minister told journalists today that "although this is possible from the technical point of view, the financial aspect of the project is not clear" to him. "Should necessary resources be found, such an orbital station could be created," Klebanov said.

At the same time, he stressed in reply to an Interfax question that "implementing such a project could not be related in any way to the possibility of developing Russia's new full-scale space station Mir-2."

"These are totally different things," the deputy prime minister said.
