I admire Boris Yeltsin, not only being the son of Perestroika but for overcoming his handicap pertaining to his left hand missing the thumb and index finger due to a childhood prank, playing with a grenade.
Despite this incident he became a brilliant volleyball player and invented, quote( a non classic way to retrieve the ball). He was soon drafted into the City All star high school team after rigorous training events. Yeltsin later moved onwards and upwards to play for the city of Sverdlovsk which was high up in the national league during the USSR period, where Yeltsin became captain of this team. If anyone loves volleyball, this is one article they should know about. |

I was a spectator of a volleyball game (during National Volleyball Championship), in which Yelstin was present. He chose the best player (Sergej Tetoukhin) and presented him his own watches as a prize after the game. That was really nice to see.
Russian volleyball is in its highest condition nowadays (just look how Lokomotiv from Belgorod won the European Champions League (3:0!!!)- and most of national team players are from Belgorod), and with their new coach it has most chances to win the Olympic Games in Athens the next year. |
