I'm heading back to St. Petersburg for May, and I was wondering if anybody knows of any good fighting tournaments coming up. I know Moscow's the place for that stuff (I saw some AMAZING Muay Thai and some good military fighting there a while back), so I'll be heading down there sometime too. Problem is, I have no idea what's happening and when.
Does anybody have some info they'd like to pass on? Any websites keep track of this stuff? Thanks for any help! Dave |

I.m sorry, I was wrong:
the finals will be held 27th of April in Yubileiniy. 'Russia against the world' But, check http://www.mixfight.ru -- St.Pete is home for both 'fights without rules M-1' and " Pankration" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And, If you will have time, try to watch Russboy - russian martial art, a totally crazy one. Imagine a micsture of thai, northern u-shu and caponeigra. It's more artistic then hap-qui-do. And, if you will have the time - find a film about the sambo starter. The movie is called ' Don't be afraid, I'm with you' starring Lev Durov, Muslim Magomaev etc. If you like martial arts, you will find it quite interesting. |

Sorry for not making myself clearer. I definitely DO NOT want to participate in the fighting.
I love to watch from the safety of my seat! Thanks for those great pictures!! I saw a Red Devil Mixfight the last time I was in St. Petersburg (I think the fight was sometime in October). It was pretty good... very much like the Ultimate Fighting Championship (ie. lots of ground fighting). Moscow seems to have a wider range of tournaments. The best one I saw was a Kickboxing/Muay Thai championship... it was EXTREMELY bloody with a ton of knockouts. Of course, with this sport, it was all stand-up fighting. In Moscow, though, I also saw a Sambo tourney, a military tournament, and a couple others that don't come to mind immediately. Every weekend there were at least two good events to go to! Plus, most of them were free......unlike the Mixfight in St. Petersburg! I think the prices ranged from 150 - 300 rubles or so for a ticket. Personally, I prefer the smaller events. You're always guaranteed a close seat and it's not as commercial... Thanks again, Dave |
