I wonder if someone has more info on this issue than I do.
Russian runner Egorova won Edmonton championship but was booed by crowd because she allerged to be tested positive on EPO. What is the story? French have tested her positive but she got away because they have tested just urine but didn't do blood. Which is how properly she should of been tested. She was tested negative in Edmonton and elsewhere, but the poor girl is booed at every competition she participates in. The most "frustrating" fact is that she keeps winning. She won Golden League in Zurich, and now in Brussell. And getting close to winning 50kg og gold. That french drug test. Is it hoax? Is it true? I really think the crowd should boo the french. Can you believe that they couldn't do test properly? If they haven't done test properly why do we believe them? Drug cheats are quite irritating issue in sport and should be dealt with harshly. But if the court said "not guilty", so i think we should treat someone as "not guilty", no? It's quite painfully to watch how crowd takes away the best moments of the poor girl's life, her victories. Or Russians generally should be booed? |

As far as I know, there are now 2 tests that work for EPO detection. One is French and based on a urine test, the other is Canadian and uses blood samples. Most likely, Egorova's was tested positive with only one test - on urine, ie the French test - while the sports authorities require that an athlete be tested positive on BOTH tests to be disqualified, which is why the findings didn't stand.
The use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports is an interesting topic. I love sports, not only their beauty but also their ethics. But use of EPO and other substances is really ruining it all, and more and more people are tired of the suspicion on the performance of a number of athletes, which is why Egorova got that reaction. Originally from France, I recently moved to the US. Although I already knew the country a little, it's always a shock for me to see products such as creatine and ever steroids freely advertised and available on the displays of some so-called health or nutrition stores. I would very much like to know how other forum members, especially Americans feel about this. |

I cheer for Egorova, despite the drug test, scandalous as it may be, she has tested negative for EPO in Edmonton and elsewhere, so clearly it is not the only thing that is giving her victorious results. She has my support
benCA.. Zhanna Pintusevich-Block beat Marion Jones...( It was a joyous moment I thought..she's a great athlete in my opinion!) |

from what I heard, not only the failure to make both tests was an issue but also that the authorities failed to provide the urine samples to make the detailed analysis .
And, according to the chief coach of Russian athletics team, Valeriy Kulichenko, Russian Athletics Federation is not having enough money to buy the drug metioned (which I personally doubt). Another information is that the Russian Atletics Federation is planning to charge Gabriela Sabo and her manager in court for virulent abuse. |
