Russia robbed of it's earning

The olympic games as I predicted were an unfair and biased event where it was only possible for the USA and Canada to emerge victorious.
Let us start with the Women's cross country, ok fine, one of the Russian competitors had something wrong with her blood but they could have informed Russia and they could have replaced her with someone else. But these vile Americans wait until the change period expires (2 hours before the event) and then tell the Russian team so they are unable to replace and therefore unable to participate. Russia wants either a re-run or a duplicate gold because their squad was by far superior to the other competitors.

Next the figure skating, Americans were fixed to win it. Sarah Hughes failed and when Michelle Kwan performed and lost her balance, they used Hughes as an excuse and gave her the Gold when Michelle Kwan should have earned silver and Irina Slutskaya should have won gold, she made no mistakes.
In the pair skating, Canadians were given a duplicate gold when the Russsians were clearly better but here the Russians were much better and I am behind Irina Slutskaya's argument, she should be given the gold for her outstanding performance which was almost flawless.

Now let us go on to the Hockey, for those of you who did watch the Russia vs USA match and thought it was a fair event are seriously ill and need immediate attention. The referees wanted to fix it so that Canada and USA were in the final to try to show the superiority of the North American Continent. Everytime the Russians were able to work out an attack and switch to the offensive, a whistle blew, a Russian was sent off or it was yet another face off.

I am appauled at this and I also extend my sympathies to the South Korean ice skater and the Chinese, Ukrainians and Latvians who were all cheated of the Gold they worked so hard for.

Did you actually watch that hockey game between Russia and the US??? It wasn't the officials fault the Russians didn't show up to play during the first two periods. If the Russians played the whole game the way they played the 3rd period, they would have easily one. Sore losers that's all. Their coach should be more ashamed at how his team played the first two-thirds of the game instead of blaming the officials for everything.

1) Women's Cross-Country. America is not competitive. We don't care who wins. If what you say is true, and they had her test results available in time for the Russian team to use an alternate, you have a gripe. The idea that it would have anything to do with shenanigans by the host country is idiotic - as I stated, we don't care. We like winners, not also-rans, and Americans or their Olympic representatives aren't going to waste time or credibility on also-rans or screwing Russians in what we perceive as a minor and obscure sport.

2) On what possible parallel universe or planet did Sarah Hughes not DESTROY her competition? Slutskaya skated a nice program, had one balancing bobble on a landing, and did not approach the difficulty of Sarah Hughes long program, quite possibly the finest exhibition of skating ability in a women's final ever. To argue otherwise is delusional. Don't embarrass yourself.

3) Hockey. We won. You lost. Great goalie play on both sides, but especially on our side during the last-ditch Russian barrage in the waning minutes. American mindset - a)hockey gold is wonderful, but barring that, b)we want to beat the Russians. Better luck next time. And don't cry about NHL players, everyone has them, and when Olympic hockey was allegedly "amateur," USSR hockey players were that in name only.

4) I originally thought the South Korean got jobbed. Wrong. Watch the replay. At the critical moment, when Ohno had to pass him on the inside, had the burst to pass him on the inside and beat him to the finish line, the South Korean "cross-tracked" and cut Ohno off. And another poster on this board correctly pointed out that Ohno didn't whine when a different South Korean skater of high skill but questionable maturity wiped out and took Ohno's first gold away which was won by an Australian trailing badly into the final turn.

And lastly - 1972 Munich Olympics USSR-USA basketball final. Back your homeland all you want, I respect that. But no one who supports Russia has ANY standing to claim highway robbery in the Olympics until the gold medals stolen from the US team in that game are tracked down and returned to their rightful owners. You can give Belov and the rest of his crew the silvers which are sitting in a Munich bank vault, which they earned.

And one last thing that applies to this pitiful threat to withdraw from the games by the Russians - an old American saying.

"Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya."

I have never ever seen a Russian National Team to play so poorly as they did against the US. It was a complete disaster. Great embarassment. Terrible!!!!!
They have only themself to blame. I think that the game was fixed. The Russian players sold the game.
Fetisov, the old comerad should have been more reasonable and not to blame the referies. They were fair. The Russian team wasn't.

I agree that Apollo Anton ohno should not have beat the Korean guy, but for everything else you said "it's a crock of crap" as my Childhood Idol Wayne Gretzky said.

RUssia are the sorest loosers, and if their best skier was doped, I wonder how that could of assure them of Gold. And anyway the fact you tried to win it doped deserves nothing.

U.S outshot Russia 49-29 i'll remind you. Both Canada and the US are better than Russia at Hockey. If you look at their stats in the NHL, almost every russian player, excluding Detroit Russians, are in the -. THEY EVEN LOST TO THE WEAK FINLAND.

If you wan't blatant bad refereeing, go check out the 1972 summit series when Canada whooped you. It's almost as if Russian Mafia bet holders we're refereeing. But we won anyway.

I think Russia is freaking out because these are the first Olympics where both Canada and the US have won more medals(USA has doubled the Russian medal count) and that they are starting to see that they are going downhill since the end of their communist USSR. It's sad to say, but Russia is loosing the dominance it once held. They are no longer the best in Olympic Hockey because Canada can finally bring NHL players, they are starting to feel NOrth America creeping up on them in skating and even need to get doped to continue dominating the sport in which they are suppose to be the best, cross country skiing.

The Czechs they beat and that was a much stronger team.
Before this Russia have beat just about everyone and always won gold, I must admit now Canada are about the same as Russia and maybe better but not the USA, do not be silly.
