Please folks, I need some help. I'm finally getting to visit my girlfriend in Voronezh, but how do I get there from Sheremetyevo? My travel agent can't locate any flights, and my own searches show up nothing. I need to show proof of my whole itinerary for the visa. Perhaps the train would be better? But I have even less of an idea of how to book a train ticket over there, all the way from Durban, South Africa..... And with my limited Russian, I don't really feel like negotiating onward transport on the day of arrival in Moscow! I could end up going in the opposite direction. Please help.

I just finished my 1st trip. Here is what I will do if I was you.
I will get my lady to get the train to Moscow, meet her at a Hotel and spend the first day there. In case you get a long, she will know how to get to Voronezh. If you DON'T get along, Moscow is far better place to visit Russia.

Thanks a lot (belatedly) for your very useful reply. In the end I never went, my eyes fortunately opening well before the time! A Damascus experience, not on the road to Voronezh, but still in the streets of Durban, S.A. But I have another (very nice) correspondent at the moment, so a visit to Russia is on the cards again. But this time (as per your advice) the meeting will be planned for Moscow, not Lipetsk (where she is from)! Gysbert

No, Lipetsk is in Russia, 450km south west from Moscow.
Do tell a bit more about these bridestowns. Are they towns where you are likely to find a bride, or likely to encounter some sort of scam? Sadly, I am running into more and more scams.
