How common is the contraction of Hepatitis A in Russia?
Our immunization cost for it is really expensive (in conjunction with having to get other ones) and I am trying to assess if I need it. Dr. W, perhaps you or any of the Russians here would know this? Thanks for the help. Amy |

Hi Amy
I'm completely unqualified to give medical advice! I can't put a bandage on straight! All I'll say is that these things vary immensely according to region, and what may be true of one place is not the case in another. For example, you shouldn't drink tap-water in St Petersburg because of the risk of giardiasis. But just 3 hours drive away in Novgorod, you can gulp away at the tap-water with abandon and no harm will come to you.... Personally, I'd get the shots, and some good medical insurance, wherever I was going - here, or anywhere else! Dr W. |

Well, thanks anyways.
The travel insurance is a DEFINITE, but the shots...at $70 each???!?! And there are apparently about 4 different ones to get! My fiancee says not to bother because it's only in the hotter areas (and Chechnya) where you need them. I don't know. I think it might be a waste |
