Indian visiting russia in tourist visa?

Hi,
Are there any one from India who visited Russia recently in a tourist visa? I would like to know the period of validity for tourist visa. I read somewhere like, tourist visa can be issued for 30 days.. however, when I checked with embassy, they told 14 days only. Is there any way that I can stay in russia for 17 days or so and how do I get visa for it ??
