[Solo to Moscow]

I am looking into a 6 week trip from the South west of England to Moscow and possibly onto St Petersburg in the summer of 2009 by motorcycle. I would like to do this as an individual or with a bunch of friends. I am not really into organized tours. I am thinking of the UK, France, Germany, Poland Belarus/Ukraine into Russia and onto Moscow. If time allows St Petersburg and back to the UK by the shortest, quickest route. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has done anything similar. would it be feasible, is it safe? Would really like to hear from any bike enthusiasts who I could meet up with on route for a beer or three.If anyone can steer me to links that may be more suitable it would be appreciated.
