The idea of constructing a golf course in Russia was first proposed by Dr. Armand Hammer to attract Western visitors and businessmen. The course was designed by the legendary golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr, and hosted its first Russian Open Golf Tournament, with only nine holes, in the year 1993. The long awaited grand opening of the course took place on 1994. It then became the permanent host of the Russian Open Golf Tournament.

The fact that Le Meridien Moscow Country Club is located approximately fifteen kilometers outside Moscow, makes the golf course easily accessible to city dwellers and allows this sprawling eighteen-hole golf course in Russia to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings of crystal lakes and dense birch forests. The spectacular beauty of the landscapes and challenging design of the course has seen visitors, politicians, golfing professionals and businessmen playing side by side on a course that has become synonymous with elegance, status and etiquette.

For players who want to practice their swing, there is a driving range available that has thirty mats and allows for a distance of three hundred meters. The Le Meridien Moscow Country Club is also dedicated to promoting the game of golf to younger sport enthusiasts and assisting players in improving their game. They have therefore specially designed programs that are hosted by professional instructors at the Academy Golf School at the Country Club. Junior courses include video analysis, swinging, short game basics, controlled shots, golfing rules and course etiquette. Other programs include flight control, techniques for short games, computerized video swing analysis and strategy.

The Le Meridien Moscow Country Club is focused on promoting the sport of golf and offering players a memorable day on the course. Being host to a professional tournament has afforded the club great attention and left it with a legacy of good golfing and first class accommodation.
